ABOUT ME

Miche’s passion for animals ignited on her family farm, where she learned to ride a horse before mastering a bike. Her journey took a transformative turn when she trained her German Shorthair Pointer as a Service Dog in the vibrant yet challenging landscape of New York City. This experience inspired her to create the Sundogs community, driven by a desire for honest, factual resources in an industry often motivated by financial gain.

From the start, Miche instinctively embraced positive reinforcement while training her dog from just 8 weeks old. As trends in the dog training world favored alpha and dominance models, she felt a disconnect. Trusting her instincts, she focused on meeting her dog’s foundational needs, which led to a calmer, better-behaved companion. This journey was later validated by studies debunking the wolf pack and alpha theories, emphasizing that a dog’s personality is paramount, regardless of breed. This revelation was crucial for Miche, as the personality of a service dog must align perfectly with the roles and environments they serve.

Miche empathizes with the frustrations pet owners often face while navigating conflicting advice and seeking authentic support. This understanding fuels her commitment to providing compassionate, science-based resources designed to strengthen the bond between you and your furry friends.

With certifications in LIMA, Body Language & Behavior, CPR, and over 300 hours of training for her CPDT-KA exam, Miche combines her expertise with an intuitive understanding of canine needs. A Cum Laude graduate with a B.S. in Sociology from Hunter College, she excels at reading dog body language and connecting with their emotions, guided by the instincts and values that have shaped her journey.
